Functional Nutritional Therapy

WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?

Functional Nutritional Therapy is a food first functional approach to health and wellness that allows the body to heal naturally.  Nutritional Therapy is an individualized process that allows for each person’s unique needs to be identified and supported by balancing key elements of good health:

  • Digestion
  • Blood Sugar Regulation
  • Mineral Balance
  • Hydration
  • Fatty Acid Balance

My Story

I began my health journey after years of battling a variety of symptoms including migraines, endometriosis, chronic fatigue, joint pain, skin issues, digestive disturbances, and more, with an eventual diagnosis of Celiac disease.  After tiring of being prescribed pharmaceuticals with no real relief, I took my health into my own hands, and finally got results.

I have a Bachelors in Psychology from Western Michigan University and Masters in Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and throughout my social work career, I have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health, medical, hospice, and inpatient psychiatry.  During this time, my passion for preventive health grew as well as a focus on how mental health is connected to the food we eat.  My own experience led to seeking additional training through the Nutritional Therapy Association, becoming a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, so she could help others on their health journey.  She additionally completed basic training for Nutrition Response Testing, a form of muscle testing, to further get to the root cause of dysfunction in the body. I furthered my nutrition education with completing levels 1 and 2 of the Restorative Wellness Solutions program, and plan to continue with this training to complete all 4 levels.

My passion lies in digestive health, mental health (anxiety, depression, Neuro-develpmental disorders, grief and loss, eating disorders), hormonal balances, weight loss, and blood sugar dysregulation.

I have two adorable little girls that keep me super busy!  I love to cook, garden, travel, and work on DIY home projects.  I cannot wait to work with you on your health journey and healing!
